Welcome to our online Farm Store!
UPDATE FROM SADIE-GIRL FARM!
We want to thank everyone who sent well wishes and prayers to us as we recovered from Hurrican Helene. Our town of Swannanoa will still be recovering for quite a while, but here on the farm, we are back up and running.
Our post office is still non-functional (it was under water), but we are able to now ship eggs and chicks again by using a post office that is one town over. We have successfully sent out packages and they are arriving as expected.
We are back to taking orders and shipping for just 3 more weeks before we close for the Holidays. We appreciate you all and please feel free to reach out at any time.
All chicks (both quail and chickens) ship on Tuesdays and will arrive to you on Wednesday or Thursday. They are all packed with plenty of food and hydration gel on board, for a safe and happy journey! We have a live delivery guarantee on all live chicks! Soon after receiving your order, we will send you your ship date based on your “place in line”.
Hatching Eggs are shipped on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for fastest delivery times. We pack all of our eggs in foam egg shippers for a safe journey and include a hatching guide with your order.
We also love Local Pickups, and you may select that option upon checkout if you live near Black Mountain, NC

Celadon Quail- Blue Egg Layers (sexed FEMALES)
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PLACING YOUR ORDER! Thanks
Please visit our Celadon Page for a full description of this breed: https://sadiegirlfarm.com/celadon-quail/
*These Celadon Quail are guaranteed female and to lay blue eggs.
Our Female Celadon Quail are our most popular offering, and so are available only a few times per year in very limited quantities
Female Celadon Quail are about 4 weeks old when shipped.
Price listed is per chick.
These come as an assortment of our current feather sexable Celadon Quail colors. You will get a mixture of colors with your order, which may include Pearl Fee, Italian, Falb Fee, as well as some fun Dilutes.
100% of our Celadon Quail will lay blue eggs.
We ship the quail teens once they have been weaned off of their heat lamps. They will be ready to go right out into their coop/pen as long as the weather in your area is above 40*. If your nighttime temps are dropping below 40, we recommend keeping them indoors for another week or 2 (no heat lamp needed) until they put on a little more weight (around 4-5 weeks old they are good to go!) For more info on keeping quail happy and healthy during the winter, please visit our blog.
We can fit up to 5 teenage quail in a small box, or up to 10 in a large box. Shipping is the same price regardless of box size. There is a 3 quail minimum for shipping teens. Shipping quail is $40 flat rate per box.
*If you have any dates that you will not be able to receive your quail (will be out of town, etc) please note that when you place your order. Because we are a small farm, dealing with many factors that affect laying rates and hatch rates, you may need to wait a couple of weeks for your quail to be ready to ship… average wait time is 1 week. Thank you for your patience! We will continually be in touch with you about the progress of your order.
**We guarantee live delivery if you pick them up from the post office within 2 hours of being notified of their arrival. Any quail that don’t make it will be refunded. To be eligible for a refund, you must inspect chicks at the post office and take a picture to verify any that did not make it (rare, but it does happen). Once the quail are in your care, we offer no refunds, based on the fact that we cannot control how each person cares for their quail. Shipping is stressful on the quail, so we recommend you research how to care for shipped quail, and offer food, as well as water with poultry electrolytes, immediately upon receiving them. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about the care of your quail.
CELADON QUAIL
The Celadon Quail are a special variety of Coturnix Quail who carry a rare, recessive gene (the celadon gene) which causes their eggs to be a gorgeous blue color (often with brown speckles!). We breed for seven different feather colors… Scarlett, Rosetta, Tibetan, Scarlett Tuxedo, Rosetta Tuxedo, Tibetan Tuxedo, and English White.
This has been a long-time project of ours, selectively breeding for blue egg layers. We have finally gotten to where our Celadons breed ‘True’. This means that 100% of these quail will lay blue eggs. This is a BIG DEAL in the Celadon world! Currently, we are one of only a couple breeders in the country breeding this variety of quail who have achieved true-blue laying Celadons.
EASY TO CARE FOR
Quail need a slightly different setup than chickens; they do really well in little “quail-tractors” or a rabbit-hutch style house. They do not roost, but rather, like to have a small shelter on the ground to sleep and lay their eggs in. They are amazingly cold hardy and lay more than our chickens! During the laying season they lay 1 egg nearly every day, and will lay 300+ eggs per year if given supplemental lighting in the winter.

QUAIL EGGS ARE A SUPERFOOD
Their eggs are tiny and PACKED with nutrients. They are a great low-calorie, protein-rich food. They are creamy and delicious, and cannot carry salmonella, so can safely be eaten raw. The health benefits of quail eggs include their ability to improve vision and immunity, boost energy levels, reduce inflammation, and stimulate growth and repair in the body. Quail eggs also help to boost metabolism, reduce blood pressure, and soothe allergies, among others!
PERFECT FOR THE HOMESTEAD
Who doesn’t need a few quail in their life?! They are tiny little packages that pack a nutritional punch! The males’ crow is a soft trill, like a song-bird, and so, many urban families who cannot have roosters, opt for a few backyard quail. We think you will love their sweet, quirky little personalities as much as we have!
